The Blue Pegu
The Pegu Club Cocktail originated at the Pegu Club, located just outside Rangoon, (Burma). The club was named for the Pegu, a nearby Burmese river. The recipe appears in the Savoy Cocktail Book of 1930 by Harry Craddock, and the 1930 edition of Cocktails by “Jimmy” late of Ciro’s London.” (source Wikipedia). The Blue Pegu is my reshaping of the serving using Vodka and Blue Gin.
The Blue Pegu
3/4 oz London No. 1 Original Blue Gin
3/4 oz Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka
3/4 oz Cointreau
1 tsp Lime Juice
dash bitters (Angostura)
ice
Coil of Lime for garnish (optional)
Pour the ingredients into a metal shaker filled with ice
Shake until the outside of the shaker frosts
Strain into a chilled glass
Garnish with a slice of lime if desired
