On the 20th day of my 24 Days of Rum Journey, I find myself back in the Caribbean on the very Island that Christopher Columbus first landed when he crossed the Atlantic in 1492. And the rum I have sampled links itself to that journey both in name and place.
Ron Cristóbal Niña, in produced in the Dominican Republic for 1423 World Class Spirits. Ron Cristóbal is of course the Spanish version of the name Cristopher Columbus, and the Niña was one of the three ships he sailed on his first trip to what would become the Americas.
Ron Cristobal Nina is considered by the brand owner to be a super premium rum. It is made from 100% pure Dominican rum which was tropically aged in the Dominican and blended using only aged-stated rums of 8 years and 12 years.
