24 Days of Rum (#20) – Ron Cristóbal Niña (Dominican Republic)

Posted by Arctic Wolf on December 20, 2019

On the 20th day of my 24 Days of Rum Journey, I find myself back in the Caribbean on the very Island that Christopher Columbus first landed when he crossed the Atlantic in 1492. And the rum I have sampled links itself to that journey both in name and place.

Ron Cristóbal Niña, in produced in the Dominican Republic for 1423 World Class Spirits. Ron Cristóbal is of course the Spanish version of the name Cristopher Columbus, and the Niña was one of the three ships he sailed on his first trip to what would become the Americas.

Ron Cristobal Nina is considered by the brand owner to be a super premium rum. It is made from 100% pure Dominican rum which was tropically aged in the Dominican and blended using only aged-stated rums of 8 years and 12 years.

Here is a link to my tasting notes and scores for the No. 20 spirit in the 24 Days of Rum – The Original Rum Tasting Box:

Review: Ron Cristóbal Niña

“… All of the flavours mingle very nicely together. I taste rich oak spice, toffee, marmalade, marzipan, apricots, as well as firm baking spices (vanilla, cinnamon and clove) …”

Chimo!

Note: 24 Days of Rum – The Original Rum Tasting Box produced by 1423 World Class Spirits contains 24 handpicked rums from 24 different countries all over the world. It features an extraordinary opportunity to sample a wide variety of premium rums allowing you to hone in on the particular style which suits your palate. As indicated in my previously published review (here) This Rum Advent Calendar is a highly recommended gift for the rum enthusiast.
