I thought it might be nice to share a few cocktail recipe’s that I have run across during the past year. This one was sent to me by the Suntory/Beam North American Media Team as a suggested serving for their Knob Creek Bourbon. It’s called the Lion’s Tail, and it was sent to me as a Fourth of July Celebratory Serving. Personally, I think it works much better (especially with the lovely flavour of Allspice Dram liqueur running through) as a festive Christmas cocktail.
Let me know what you think!
Lion’s Tail
2 oz Knob Creek Bourbon
1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Allspice Dram Liqueur
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 tsp Cane Syrup
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
Stir until chilled
Strain into a chilled rocks glass
Garnish with a lime twist.
Enjoy Responsibly!

Ron Esclavo XO is a premium rum produced in the Dominican Republic and distributed by 1423 World Class Spirits based in Denmark. According to the 1423 World Class Spirits website, Ron Esclavo Rums are produced by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos who harvest their own sugarcane from within Dominica. Tequila Adictivo was founded by Gildardo Partida, a third generation ‘tequileros’ from San Diego whose family apparently has a rich tradition of tequila manufacture and distribution which reaches back over 100 years. Adictivo Tequila was formerly produced at Tequilas Gonzalez Lara, S.A. de C.V. Distillery, (NOM 1560 CRT) in Los Vallos (the lowlands) at El Arenal, Jalisco. Knowing that the spirit is produced in the lowlands, gives us a clue as to its taste profile. Lowland grown agave will usually bring more earthy/punky fruit flavours through the distillation than highland agave which tends to bring more citrus-like fruit flavours through the distillation as well as a light squeal of white pepper. Of course Lowland distilleries may source their agave from the Highlands and vice versa or even use both styles of agave in their production of tequila.
As I was sampling the rum selection of World Class Spirits 24 Days of Rum 2020 Advent Calendar I encountered a rum on day 11 which was labeled Richland Single Estate Georgian Rum. It was quite good, in fact it was really good, and so I went to the
In 1862, Facundo Bacardi and his brother José bought the Santiago de Cuba Distillery and began to distill what would become the most popular commercial rum in the world. Using a method of charcoal filtering, and oak barrel aging along with a still of copper and cast iron, Facundo created a smoother more refined version of the locally made rum. His smoother version of the spirit became local favourite, and over time, an international sensation.
